Plumbing is typically known as working with pipes and plumbing fixtures for waste water or in drinking water. In developed countries the plumbing industries plays the important role because of the need of clean and hygenic water. Proper collection and transport is also very important. Transportation of drinking water as well as waste water needs plumbing maintenance. A plumber is the person who maintain or repairs all the pipes, plumbing fixtures and other plumbing equipments like water heaters etc. Plumbing systems of sewage and water are different. Plumbing system used for one building and sewag systems used for colony or group of colonies.

Plumbing was earlier found in ancient Greece, Rome, India and Chinese countries. In earlier times the need of plumbing found in getting the drinking water and in drainage of waste water. At that time plumbing system means collection and disposal of waste water into the river. But now days plumbing is essential need of each and every city or village. Gradually the development found in plumbing systems like underground water and sewage systems, removal of open sewage ditches. In most of the large cities, the waste water is purified at some extent and then it is released into the rivers or streams.

Plumbing fixture are the devices used to take and drain the waste water. It is the major part of plumbing system. In ancient time water supply was carried out by using clay, lead or bamboo pipes. But in modern era the pipes are made of plastic, steel or any metal having low erosion. Lead pipes are used worldwide because of its toxicity. The pipes are very thick made by casting or welding. Tapware is a sub category of plumbing fixtures includes water taps, different types of showers and faucets bathtubes, wash basins, fountains, ice makers etc. Plumbing also requires valves, elbows, unions for fitting of piplines.

Plumbers also can use water meters, water pumps, backflow resistance, water purifiers and many other control systems. They can use the hidden cameras to find out the leakages or problems in plumbing. Plumbing systems can be used in cold and hot water transport, rainwater or surface and subsurface water for drainage systems. It is also used in fuel gas systems, septic tanks. Fire stop contractors are using floor assemblies or membrans in the firestopping systems. Traditional water heaters use a storage tank to store the hot water. Electric and propane heaters are common. Tank less water heaters are also available. Instead of storing the water they used to rout the water.

Poor plumbing systems directly affected on the public health. For the safety and welfare of the society government regulates srict laws to impliment good plumbing systems. There are very few systems present to control the activities on unemployed plumbers.They install or join the unbranded or poor quality equipments which may lead to an accident. For the health and safety issue there should be rules and regulations acted upon the plumbing systems also. World health organization is looking forward to take some porjects related with health aspects of plumbing.
